{"id":482,"date":"2018-02-19T13:28:33","date_gmt":"2018-02-19T13:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.adienicholls.co.uk\/blog\/?p=482"},"modified":"2018-02-19T14:59:12","modified_gmt":"2018-02-19T14:59:12","slug":"arpic-raspbian-light-stretch-ntp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.adienicholls.co.uk\/blog\/arpic-raspbian-light-stretch-ntp\/","title":{"rendered":"ARPIC &#8211; Raspbian Light Stretch NTP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whilst setting up a new APRIC I noticed that the time was not updating as expected, no update on boot.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0have not setup an RTC on this unit yet, but NTPD would need to be installed anyway to updated the RTC later.<\/p>\n<p>It appears in the Jan 2018 release of Rasbian Lite Stretch does not have NTPD installed as default.<\/p>\n<p>A quick way to check the time and date configuration is to use <em>timedatect1<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-484\" src=\"http:\/\/www.adienicholls.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/timedatect1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"148\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>To install NTPD and set the time<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Start with a system update ;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><code>sudo apt-get update &amp;&amp; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade<\/code><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure your raspi-config location settings are correct;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><code>sudo raspi-config<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Under <code>4\u00a0 Localisation Options<\/code>, Select <code>I2\u00a0 Change Timezone &amp; location\u00a0<\/code><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Install NTPD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><code>sudo apt-get -y install ntp<\/code><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><code><\/code>To set the time and date use te below string, updating as appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><code>sudo date -s \"19 JAN 2018 13:16:00\"<\/code><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whilst setting up a new APRIC I noticed that the time was not updating as expected, no update on boot.
